Pod Cast Summary
When
it comes to depression there is always a lack of advertised information on
alternative methods and or additional things that can be done to help combat depression.
If a person who is diagnosed with depression was given information upon their
visit with their therapist about things that can be done in addition or instead
of medication more people would be inclined to explore all their options. I
myself had postpartum depression after the birth of all my children. When I had
my first child I didn’t know that I had postpartum I just thought it was a side
effect of my hormones being outta whack. I was about 6 months postpartum before
I realized that this was not normal to be this sad and emotional about everything.
Things that used to make me laugh made me mad and I was always on edge. My
husband walked on egg shells to keep me from getting upset and keep me from
crying. The therapist prescribed me medication and told me to come back in 6-8
weeks to asses my dosage. I would always forget to take the meds and I never
found the medication useful. My oldest was about 2 when I got heavy into exercise.
I was a stay at home and a friend of mine started to workout and asked me to
join her. I felt myself being able to laugh at the things that bothered me and
feeling great about my weight loss. If I was told that working out could help
me with my depression I would have started that a long time ago.
